I had my session with Rafael Arboleda, CEO of Compulink Technologies, together with key members of his marketing and sales team, Deanna Pashko and Lamont Ford, for The Council’s AIM Program.  This was the best learning experience I have had with The Council, not withstanding other excellent programs.  I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and insight into running and growing a technology business. This was base on the detailed and well prepared presentations and open discussions on how the company uses specific sales, marketing and management techniques and strategies to grow and sustain Compulink’s business through strong and difficult economies.  Compulink applies a cascading marketing strategy with events, extensive marketing materials, business and professional certifications highlighted – where necessary, give-a-ways and a well planned follow-up sales approach for bidding on and wining contracts.  Compulink is a sound technology company which consistently leverages its marketing and sales organizations to drive the business.

During my AIM session at Compulink Mr. Arboleda demonstrated how he has instituted business and technical standards, processes, methods and created employee expectations to run a solid middle market company in a heavily competitive technology industry.  Their products and services are often segmented to focus on specific vertical markets; they are also bundled. As a result, the suite of solutions that Compulink sales enables the company to grow and retain a strong customer base and the marketing affords has branded Compulink in the minds of many buyers in key industries.

Mr. Arboleda also emphasized how a relentless focus on the company’s sales effort including partner alliances combined with deep supplier relationships is the engine that makes the car run in order to reached goals.  My impression is that it’s also the leadership and strategy that Mr. Arboleda employs that keeps the company on course.

It was great to have had such close visibility into a well run company and to learn from someone like Mr. Arboleda and how he took one idea and created a business and developed it into a full service technology company with a full suite of solutions servicing multiple industries.  Accordingly, I feel honored to have been selected into the AIM Program by Compulink Technologies and to have received such unique training and valuable insight into building and running a technology company.
